What will Australia’s first net zero energy town be?

The ZNET project created by Starfish is a very ambitious yet productive endeavour. The Net Zero enegy project is focussed on making a transition to 100 percent renewable energy which will be generated from local sources.Energy will be stored and distributed on a localised mini-grid.Like other European countries Australia too has decided to take this intiative of going completely green and preserving the environment. This movement is not only felt by the people of Starfish, but also by the people who have an avid knoweldge of that domain, which can be seen from the fact that they received 30 documentation requests in 2 days. The urge to go green can be observed and the project even demands involvement by the locals.Starfish is going to select a particular town from the successful tenderers, where they feel will be possible to implement the ZNET project model.Although the project may take time,an initiative has already begun and is in process.

Thus it can be seen that Australia has also taken a leap ahead to create it’s first net zero energy town. They already have a planning process ready and the co-opertaion from the locals is also there. This teamwork will hopefuly lead them to implement the project successfully.

Fracking Boom Hits Water Well

Fracking which is a drilling process involves extracting gas and oil from shale formations in the ocean bed. This process depletes the natural resouces immensely by polluting the air and also has negative effects on other indudtries that depend on the natural reserves for their business.Hence it can be understood that on one hand it’s a boon for the oil and gas industry whereas on the other hand it’s a complete loss for the environment and the people who depend on it for a living. The fracking process if carried out in densely populated areas will have an adverse effect on their lives causing limited freshwater supplies. The overall consequence is deleterious for everyone.Although the WRI’s report on mitigating the problem of water risk is addressed, and that it has a negative impact on the oil and gas industry, observations should be made whether the said procedures are actually being carried out.

The government should play a dominant role in addressing this problem by asking the oil and gas industry to submit validated test reports showing highly reduced or no water contamination on  a monthly basis. From the point of view of the industry they should take take responsibilty of the ocean bed and should try to implement methods of fracking where it is a win win for both the industry as well as the natural ecosystem.Their goal should be to maximize profits without destroying the originality of the environment. If they still don’t show concern about it,then we will all see a day when the oil and gas is available in vast quantity but there will be no one to use them.

Is Tesla Overreaching With Giga factory tactics?

I do agree with the technical innovation that Tesla wants to proceed with i.e by powering their vehicles with a lithium ion battery a would make the car travel upto 200 miles on a charge.Their request for a statewise bidding and hence invest all the state funding($500 million) on a company is something very impractical with which I don’t agree.A business always has two sides, the company and it’s customers i.e people, and the relationship it establishes is always  symbiotic i.e both the sides depend and benefit from each other. But they are always two seperate entities.Assuming that a state agrees to fund tesla $500 million, how will the locals of the state benefit from it?Logically if Tesla is getting the desired funding,to balance the other side of the equation, the people of the state should also get the Model 3 for a highly subsidized price(say, 1/10th of the price) or a similar kind of settlement.Only then will their proposal seem sound.Their current proposal is breaking the foundation on which a business is established i.e customer focus.
If I am to judge from the point of view of the government, all the states should sit together and analyze Tesla’s profits and do indepth research of their products(from the technical viewpoint) to get a clearer picture of the company’s main goals, their intention behind requesting for a bidding proposal.Secondly, the state governments should fund the project that has a top priority or that which needs improvement in the state and most importantly which involves people as a whole and changing their lives to make it better.
